Meet the POHK Sellers

Power of Hope Kibera Sellers

Anjeline “Boss Boss Boss” is POHK’s senior entrepreneur. She is the leader of the sellers and a respected elder in the community. She is a mother to five, now-grown children. In addition to selling, Anjeline assists POHK staff with product research and provides technical assistance.

I love this project because it taught me a lot about hygiene and washing hands. It helps bring affordable soap to my community.
Helen has been selling soap since 2010 and one of POHK’s original sellers. She is a true entrepreneur, balancing her soap business, a hair salon, and raising three children. It is not uncommon to see Helen walking around Kibera, selling soap door-to-door, with her baby on her back.
The soap I sell is so nice. My clients use it for washing hands, for washing clothes and for washing dishes. It makes the job at home easy.

Loreto is a mother of four young children, including a new baby born in 2014. Her enthusiasm and eagerness to learn has taken her far and she is truly dedicated to POHK and her business. Just weeks after her baby was born, she was selling soap out of her home.

The soap business can make the lives of people to change. It makes me to have my own money so I can feed my babies.

Ruth is a single mother with one child, Ryan. In addition to selling soap, she is also a peer educator, a seamstress and is in school learning new sewing techniques. Ruth’s quiet confidence is her secret selling weapon. She joined to POHK team in 2013.

I am a single mom so selling soap helps me make money to feed my baby.
